Most projects will require a structural design report as part of the building control application.
Residential structural design reports
For a residential structural engineering project, the structural design report (also known as structural calculations) will use drawings and calculations to prove that the building work is structurally sound and is able to support itself under normal usage.
A structural design report in less than a month
If you choose to have your structural design report carried out by CR Design Services, we will assign one of our experienced and fully-qualified structural engineers to your project.
They will prepare a residential structural design report, including calculations and structural summary drawings, in 2-3 weeks.
Working with planning drawings
Our structural engineer will prepare your design report using the drawings produced as part of our concept design & planning package.
Alternatively, they can use planning drawings you have had produced by a third party.
The residential structural design report
The structural designs and calculations will typically cover the following:
- Structural elements, such as walls, beams, columns (including size and design).
- Reinforcements, including the materials, such as concrete, steel or timber.
Submitting the structural design report
Once the residential structural design drawings and calculations have been agreed, the structural design report must be submitted to your local council.
If you are also using our building control drawing package we will submit the structural design as part of the building control application.
As part of our service, we prepare and submit the application to the council, or to a private building control inspector of your choice.
For no extra charge, we will act your agent for the duration of the application.
Please note that building control application fees are not included in our packages.
If your residential structural design report has been prepared by a third party, we will submit it as part of your building control application.

Almost all extension, conversion and new build projects will require a building control application.
We will prepare all the technical architectural drawings and construction specifications required for the application and submit the application on your behalf, acting as your agent with the council for the duration of the projection.

Building Regulations
Once planning permission has been approved, we move onto the technical stage. We produce a comprehensive set of Building Regulation drawings that demonstrate how the design complies with UK Building Regulations. These include detailed sections, construction notes, and specifications. The drawings can be to submit to building control and used by your contractor.
