Our Process
At CR Design Services, we can guide clients through every stage, from measured survey to starting on site. We understand that not every project starts from scratch. If you already have existing surveys, planning approval, or structural information in place, we’re happy to step in at the appropriate stage and take your project forward seamlessly.
Measured Survey
We start with a detailed measured survey of your property. Using laser measuring tools, we record all key dimensions and features. This data forms the foundation for accurate existing drawings - a critical first step in any design process.
Concept Design & Planning
Based on your brief and the existing site conditions, we develop concept designs exploring spatial layouts, materials and sizes. Our designs are considerate of planning regulations to ensure your application has the highest chance of being passed. We’ll present multiple options if appropriate, and refine them based on your feedback. Once the concept is agreed, we prepare and submit a planning application to your local authority. We handle all necessary drawings, forms, and liaise with planning officers as needed.
Building Regulations
Once planning permission has been approved, we move onto the technical stage. We produce a comprehensive set of Building Regulation drawings that demonstrate how the design complies with UK Building Regulations. These include detailed sections, construction notes, and specifications. The drawings can be to submit to building control and used by your contractor.
Structural Design
The structural designs and calculations will typically cover the structural elements, such as walls, beams, columns (including size and design) and reinforcements, including the materials, such as concrete, steel or timber. Most projects will require a structural design (also known as structural calculations) to be submitted as part of the building control application.
Start on site
As your project moves into the construction phase, we remain on hand to support you and your builder as needed. We can provide ongoing advice, respond to technical queries, and help ensure the build stays true to the approved design and regulations.
